New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft had one more Super Bowl ring to hand out, and he gifted it to Tom Brady’s mother, Galynn.
Galynn spent much of the 2016 season undergoing cancer treatments. Super Bowl LI, in which the Patriots rallied from a 25-point deficit to win in overtime, was the only game she could attend.
“He’s been so supportive of my family and certainly everything my mom went through and knowing first-hand how families deal with it,” Brady said of Kraft’s gesture, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “He was always asking, ‘How’s mom doing? How is she feeling?’ We didn’t know up until the very end whether she was going to make it to the Super Bowl.
“It was a great surprise to all of us when the ring showed up. She deserves it.”
