The Hall of Fame receiver said on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” Monday that he “would be shocked” if Elliott did not receive a lengthy suspension. He said he expected the announcement to come in the next 48 hours, but Goodell refuted the claim Monday afternoon.
“I don’t think Cris has anything to do with the decision,” Goodell said, according to James Kratch of NJ Advance Media. “No, we haven’t made any decisions yet.”
Carter hinted that Elliott withheld information from the league that could result in a suspension if he is not found guilty of any kind of domestic assault.
Elliott has been under investigation since last summer. He is reportedly expected to receive a short suspension, though Carter believes it could be up to six games.
