A moment of silence was held for Cortez Kennedy before Saturday’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Kennedy died at 48 on May 23. The former Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle earned eight Pro Bowl selections, won Defensive Player of the Year in 1992, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012.
Yale Lary and Dan Rooney were also honored during the moment of silence. Lary, a Hall of Fame safety for the Detroit Lions through the 1950s and ’60s died at 86 on May 11, while Rooney died at 84 on April 13. Former President Barack Obama attended the Pittsburgh Steelers chairman’s funeral.
