Jay Ajayi exploded onto the scene last year with a 1,272-yard, eight-touchdown season. But he could have had more.

You see, the Miami Dolphins running back played in 15 games last season. The game he missed came in Week 1, when he was kept out of uniform for his response to being passed over for Arian Foster in the starting lineup.

“Week 1 made me who I am,” Ajayi said Friday, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN. “It happened, and it kind of, I would say, maybe set a fire. Or just kind of reset in my mind, ‘OK, what do you want to do?'”

What he went on to do was compile three 200-yard games, including back-to-back performances in Weeks 6 and 7. He helped steer the Dolphins to the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

Entering his third season, Ajayi will have no competition for the lead running back role.
