Gary Barnidge has read the news clips.
The former Pro Bowl tight end was released by the Cleveland Browns in April. Since then, he has watched as the Baltimore Ravens lost tight ends Dennis Pitta to a career-threatening hip injury and Darren Waller to a year-long suspension. Meanwhile, their fellow Ravens tight ends Benjamin Watson and Maxx Williams are also recovering from season-ending injuries.
The fit appears obvious for Barnidge to join a former AFC North rival, but the pairing hasn’t formed just yet.
“They know who to contact, who to call,” Barnidge said on a radio show, according to Callie Caplan of the Baltimore Sun. “I just know we haven’t heard anything yet, which is fine.”
Barnidge has paid a free-agent visit to the Buffalo Bills, but remains on the open market, which is OK with him.
“I’m in no hurry,” he said. “I’m staying in shape. I’ll be ready when that call comes, so I’m in no rush right now.”
