The general belief was that the race for Jeremy Maclin‘s services was between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills, but a third team emerged at the end.

Though Maclin spent two days in Buffalo on a free-agent visit, Maclin’s final choice came down to the Ravens and the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN.

The Eagles focused much of their attention on rebuilding their receiver depth chart this offseason, signing both Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith via free agency. Their wideout unit also includes Nelson Agholor and Dorial Green-Beckham, but Maclin would have provided another proven force.

The belief was Maclin and the Bills were far apart on financial terms, though they own the most cap space of the three teams reportedly vying for his signature. The Eagles are already up against the cap and likely would have had to make an additional move to incorporate Maclin into the fold.

Maclin ended up choosing Baltimore in the end.
