The Carolina Panthers announced on Monday that quarterback Cam Newton won’t be throwing when their three-day minicamp begins on Tuesday.

Newton had offseason surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff on March 30, and head coach Ron Rivera announced last week the expectation was that Newton would add throwing to his rehab regimen during minicamp.

The Panthers were sure to state that the 2015 NFL MVP has not suffered a setback in his rehab, as he was originally expected to be able to throw by June 22. That timeline has not changed.
