The New Orleans Saints are exploring trade scenarios involving running back Travaris Cadet, reports Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, citing a source.

The Saints re-signed Cadet this spring, but have since added multiple running backs to their depth chart.

Cadet’s services as a third-down specialist were rendered largely redundant when the Saints drafted Alvin Kamara.

With Adrian Peterson signing and seemingly set to compete with incumbent starter Mark Ingram for early-down work, and Kamara to serve as a change-of-pace option, it’s hard to see where Cadet fits in.

Of course, other teams will surely see it that way, too, which could make it unlikely the Saints will find a trade partner willing to surrender an asset for a player they may believe will eventually be released.
