The Los Angeles Chargers announced Tuesday that their first-round pick, receiver Mike Williams, will miss the rest of OTAs with a mild disc herniation in his lower back.

The team will hold him out for the next two weeks.

The injury was first believed to be nothing more than back tightness. New head coach Anthony Lynn admitted the malady had caused the seventh overall draft pick to fall behind early. He has yet to take the field since rookie camp.

The Chargers had hoped to pair Williams with Keenan Allen to provide quarterback Philip Rivers with more offensive weapons. The team hopes he’ll be able to participate in its upcoming minicamp.
