It doesn’t appear likely that Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones will return to the team anytime soon.

Jones was informed by head coach Jay Gruden that he’s fifth on the team’s depth chart at his position, according to NFL Network’s Michael Silver.

The third-year pro is sitting behind Rob Kelley, Samaje Perine, Chris Thompson, and Mack Brown.

Jones reportedly wants the Redskins to either trade or release him, and doesn’t plan on attending OTAs as a result.

Jones rushed for 460 yards and three touchdowns in seven games last season.
