Count New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton among those amazed Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent.

Payton was asked about Kaepernick’s unsigned status Saturday and admitted it’s “a little surprising,” according to Mike Triplett of ESPN. However, he doesn’t believe it will last much longer.

“I think he’s gonna be in a camp. … I don’t think he’s gonna be available too long,” Payton said.

While a number of factors are affecting Kaepernick’s employability, Payton said the key for the quarterback will be finding the right fit with a team’s offensive vision.

“I think there will be a team that has that vision and has an offense that’s built around some of the things that he does well,” Payton said.

Apparently that team isn’t the Saints, since they opted to sign Chase Daniel as their primary backup quarterback in March.
