Christian McCaffrey is no longer enrolled at Stanford, but is being constricted by the university’s quarter system.

McCaffrey was selected eighth overall by the Carolina Panthers in the 2017 NFL Draft and is expected to be a major contributor to the team’s offense this fall. However, he cannot enter the Panthers’ facility until Stanford’s academic schedule concludes, due to a provision in the collective bargaining agreement stating that all rookies cannot engage in offseason activities until their school semester ends.

The running back was allowed to participate in Panthers minicamp this week, but cannot partake in future activity until mid-June.

This rule will also affect 49ers defensive end Solomon Thomas (Stanford), and Falcons edge rusher Takkarist McKinley (UCLA), among others.
