Free-agent wide receiver Victor Cruz is visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, a source told USA TODAY Sports’ Tom Pelissero.

However, Cruz told ESPN’s Josina Anderson that his visit with the Jaguars is scheduled for May 23.

Cruz has received minimal interest since his release from the New York Giants on February 13. The veteran pass-catcher reportedly visited the Carolina Panthers and had interest from the Denver Broncos.

Cruz’s former head coach with the Giants, Tom Coughlin, is now the Jaguars’ executive vice president of football operations.

Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns sit atop Jacksonville’s receiver depth chart, but both regressed in 2016, and a lack of depth behind them limited the offense.

The Jaguars did select Dede Westbrook in the fourth round of this year’s draft, but he may not be ready to contribute from Day 1, hence the interest in Cruz.
