Carolina Panthers assistant general manager Brandon Beane will travel to Buffalo for a second interview with the Bills for their vacant general manager position, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

New Bills head coach Sean McDermott spent 2011-16 as the Panthers’ defensive coordinator, so it would make sense for Buffalo to pair him with someone he’s familiar with.

The team is in search of a new general manager after parting ways with Doug Whaley after four seasons.

Beane has been with the Panthers for his entire 19-year career. He was named assistant general manager in June 2015 and also spent 10 games as the interim general manager in 2012 before the Panthers hired Dave Gettleman.
