It’s quite possible that the Carolina Panthers found the fastest man in football.

Marvin Bracy, who qualified for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field team last summer after posting a 9.98 100-yard dash, is hoping to crack the roster at wide receiver.

Bracy played football at Florida State, but quit the game in order to concentrate on his track career. After being eliminated during the semifinal heats in Rio de Janeiro, Bracy is ready to return to the field.

“No disrespect to (Panthers first-round pick Christian) McCaffrey or Fred Ross or Curtis Samuel,” Bracy said to ESPN’s David Newton. “Those guys have the total package.

“But I feel like my speed is different. I feel like me in open space, there is nobody that can bring me down.”

Carolina boasted the top-scoring offense in football two seasons ago, and with Bracy aboard, Cam Newton will have a genuine downfield threat this fall.
