If New York Jets starting strong safety Calvin Pryor wasn’t worried about his job after the team drafted two safeties with their first two picks in the NFL draft, he certainly should be after Todd Bowles’ latest comments.

The Jets head coach was asked how his incumbent safeties were handling the additions of Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye and was terse with his response.

“If you’re afraid of competition, you don’t need to be here,” Bowles said on Friday, according to Connor Hughes of NJ.com.

He added “it’s feasible” that both Adams and Maye could start Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.

If that’s not a warning shot, one doesn’t exist.
