Aaron Lynch may have some work to do if he expects to bounce back from a disappointing 2016 season.

The San Francisco 49ers pass-rusher has reported to offseason workouts 20 pounds overweight, according to Grant Cohn of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Assuming his listed weight is accurate, that would put the former fifth-round pick at about 290 pounds.

Cohn suggested in a previous tweet that Lynch was atop the list of players selected by the 49ers’ previous regime that could be cut heading into the 2017 season under first-year general manager John Lynch and rookie head coach Kyle Shanahan.

The 24-year-old Lynch flashed plenty of pass-rush upside over his first two seasons with 12.5 sacks. However, his apparent weight issues come on the heels of a year in which he was suspended four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy and missed several others due to injury.

Suiting up for seven contests, and starting in three of them, he finished the year with just 1.5 sacks.
