The Cleveland Browns are on the clock, and they’re also on the phone about their second pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

The Browns – who own the first and 12th overall draft picks – have been in contact with at least four teams about moving up from the No. 12 spot, NFL Network’s Mike Silver reports.

The team is targeting North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky with its second Day 1 pick, Silver adds.

Such a report suggests the Browns would prefer not to use their top pick on a quarterback, but are fearful of missing out on their preferred passer with their next one. The San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, and New York Jets – picking second, third, and sixth, respectively – could all select Trubisky before the Browns next go to the podium at No. 12.

This draft was initially viewed as short on quarterbacks worthy of a first-round draft pick. Just hours away from the event, though, Trubisky appears to be among the most coveted prospects.
