Washington Redskins linebacker Trent Murphy has been suspended for the first four games of the 2017 regular season for violating the league’s performance enhancing substance policy, the NFL announced Friday, according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan.

Murphy played in all 16 games last season, recording 47 tackles, nine sacks, and three forced fumbles, but did not earn a single start.

Outside linebackers Preston Smith and Ryan Kerrigan will likely be counted on to play extra snaps in Murphy’s absence.
