Sorry, football fans. You haven’t totally gotten rid of Phil Simms yet.

After CBS announced that Tony Romo will be replacing the former New York Giants quarterback in the broadcast booth, there was some confusion as to what will happen next for Simms, though most were happy to see him demoted.

Tara Sullivan of The Record reached out to Simms’ agent Steve Rosner to clarify if the player turned broadcaster was fired from CBS.

“Absolutely not,” responded Rosner. “He has multiple years left on his contract.

“I’ve had a few brief discussions with CBS in regard to the future and we have decided at the moment that we will regroup within the next month or so and figure out what his future role will be.”

Simms has been a color commentator with CBS since 1998.
