Drew Brees is fed up with all these 7-9 records.
After making the postseason in five of his first eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Brees and his team have failed to make the playoffs in their three most recent tries, producing a 7-9 record each year.
“You have to prove it every year,” Brees told Sirius XM NFL radio Friday. “The last three years are not acceptable and I know it’s not what we are capable of.”
In a different radio appearance Friday, Brees said he feels the Saints are close to being Super Bowl contenders, and New Orleans’ offseason has kept him optimistic that next year will be an improvement.
“Offseason moves and having a lot of picks early in draft gets me excited about future of this team and what we can do,” said Brees.
Some have speculated that the Saints are pushing for another championship run before Brees retires, though the 38-year-old feels like he could play until age 45.
