The Oakland Raiders and free-agent tight end Martellus Bennett could be headed toward a deal.

There is strong mutual interest between the two sides, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports, citing a source.

The Raiders have to save cap space for expected long-term extensions for Derek Carr and Khalil Mack, but perhaps they can fit in Bennett, too.

Bennett is believed to be seeking a substantial raise from the approximately $5 million he earned with the New England Patriots in 2016.
