The New York Jets are signing free-agent running back C.J. Spiller and nixing their previous plan to claim Knile Davis from the Green Bay Packers, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Davis had been claimed after being released by the Packers 13 days after the team traded for him from the Kansas City Chiefs. He will be placed on waivers again and potentially return to the Chiefs after the team placed Jamaal Charles on injured reserve.

Spiller, 29, has spent time with the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks this season and will be reunited with former Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey in New York.
