Luke Kuechly appears set to miss his third consecutive game as a result of a concussion suffered in Week 1.

The Carolina Panthers star linebacker hasn’t yet returned to practice and the team is preparing to go without him for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Ron Rivera announced.

With the Panthers on a bye the following week, Kuechly’s next opportunity to return to the field won’t be until an Oct. 18 tilt against the Seattle Seahawks.

Kuechly’s status remains unchanged until he’s able to pass through the NFL’s concussion protocol.

A.J. Klein, who enters Week 4 with 20 tackles and one interception, will continue to start at middle linebacker in Kuechly’s place.
